The European Union cannot accept the draft presented in Baku as the final document of the COP29 climate meeting, says the EU climate commissioner Wopke Hoekstra. According to him, no ambitious country involved in the negotiations can hardly think differently.
The most important contentious issue at the meeting has been increasing the amount of climate finance allocated from developed countries to developing countries. The target amount is left completely open only in a roughly 10-page text draft.
The Baku climate summit is scheduled to end tomorrow, Friday, but is widely expected to continue into the weekend.
