The European Parliament has voted in favor of a proposal that the age limit for driving EPA and A tractors should be raised from 15 to 16 years. The proposal is part of a larger revision of the directives for driving license rules in the Union
The proposal means that a B1 driving license, with an age limit of 16, will be required to drive an A tractor.
Increased speed limit
The B1 driver’s license is a driver’s license that gives special authorization for four-wheeled vehicles – unlike the AM driver’s license that is currently required for A tractors and is a moped driver’s license.
If the proposal becomes law, it will mean that the speed limit for EPA and A tractors, which is currently 30 kilometers per hour, would be increased to 45 kilometers per hour.
To be negotiated further
Now the proposal must be negotiated with EU member states and it is unclear when a final decision on changes to the driver’s license rules can be made.
But according to Heléne Fritzon, MEP and delegation leader for the Social Democrats in the EU, it will take place after the EU elections on June 9, she tells The evening paper.
