The English box taster

“Choose a job you love, and you’ll never have to work a single day in your life”. This phrase is attributed to Confuciusalthough Kyle Mattinson you could repeat it every Sunday afternoon, when you sit in one of those padded seats from the stadiums that gave their name to “The Padded Seat”your channel in Instagram Y TikTokwhich accumulates millions of visits in Instagram and in TikTok.

“I could say that it is part of a great plan, but the reality is that in February I bought a ticket through Viagogo and it turns out that it was VIP. When I realized it, I was at the Stamford Bridge museum recording because I thought it was great”remember for ACE Own Mattinsonwhich uploaded the video to social networks and quickly reached 1.5 million views.

His success was not fleeting. A few days later numerous English football teams knocked on his door asking him to do the same in their coveted boxes, where he could taste their tasty menus (despite the undeserved fame of Anglo-Saxon food), enjoy the preview, and of course , watch the game live.

Only four months have passed since the project began and The Padded Seat has already visited nearly 30 stadiums. Also outside of England, where clubs like PSG are still very interested in consolidating that part of the business, until now reserved for a privileged few, but which Mattinson has endeavored to democratize.

“Another reason for creating the channel is because the boxes were more affordable than people thought. A normal person is not going to pay 1,000 or 2,000 euros but they can pay 100 or 200 euros on a trip, in an experience”exposes the founder The Padded Seat, who remembers two visits in particular.

“The most Premium is the one from Arsenal, which costs more than 1,000 euros. They are very attentive, it is very well designed… but where I have enjoyed a lot is in the Cowling Town of Ligue Two (English fourth division), which is priced between 40 and 70 euros. It’s different because it’s more familiar and what you pay means a lot more,” compares Mattinson, who also has another channel on TikTok dedicated to the real estate market that adds more than 500,000 fans.

The Padded Seat does not reach 400,000 followers between Instagram and TikTok, although its creator is sure that it will outperform the other account. “It has more room for growth,” he says. Mattinson, who studied Marketing at university and went on to work in the sales department of a company. Two good reasons to understand his recent fame, although he does not consider himself an “influencer”.

“I consider myself a content creator and my face doesn’t appear in the videos, but when the kids see The Padded Seat sweatshirt they ask me to take photos. So do their parents!” he explains simply. Mattinsonvery rigorous when it comes to assessing whether the seat is soft enough, as a good taster, although sometimes he has to throw himself on the grass…

“I was sitting watching a second English game, and suddenly someone came to tell me that I had to go on the field at half time. I only do the talking about the boxes, but I ended up coming down to take five shots at the team mascot, that it was a bird. So there I was, in front of a bird, with people yelling at me that I was going to miss. I shot four times, but the last time I slipped. I lay on the ground on my back thinking, how did I end up here? “.
