A 20-year-old woman named Süreyya Han shared her tattoo on her arm that reads ‘ALONE’ on her TikTok account. Sureyya, who had tattoos on her body before, went to a tattoo artist she didn’t know, different from the one she always went to, to get her last tattoo on her arm.
Süreyya shared that the tattoo she had made began to rot inside her skin and it was so swollen that she could not move her arm. An oozing abscess began to grow next to the tattoo as the crusts on the ink were torn off by their bandages. Eventually, the abscess “exploded” before turning to “seven hours of nonstop bleeding”.
A retail employee warned Süreyya that the dangerous tattoo could cause sepsis, a life-threatening infection in her bloodstream. Fearing the dangers of tattooing, Süreyya rushed to emergency care.
HE CAN’T MOVE ARM
Sureyya wrote on a series of graphic images showing the infection on her arm developing: “Because the artist was dirty, the tattoo became septic. “My skin started to fall off and become fleshy. My bandages tore off all the crusts and were oozing.
An abscess began to form on the side that continued to leak. It started getting bigger and bigger until I couldn’t move my arm and the tattoo rotted away.”
SEVEN HOURS CONTINUOUS WING
“It exploded while serving a client and bled for seven hours straight. I had to be taken to the emergency room because they told me I might have sepsis. I was told I had to be there in an hour because I had left it there for weeks. After I emptied it, it was bandaged.”
Sureyya was given a two-week course of antibiotics, and six months later she had the tattoo re-done as the area injured by the infection on her arm became patchy.
People were shocked by his experience. One said, “Even though my tattoo artist is great, this is one of my biggest fears.” said.
