The end credits scene introduces a long lost character important to

Warning, spoilers for Enola Holmes 2 follow: Two years after the success of the Netflix film Enola Holmes starring Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown and Still Witcher star Henry Cavill, Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister has now returned in her second film adventure: In Enola Holmes 2, the young woman investigates Detective on the case of a missing girl.

But if all the puzzles are solved with the rolling of the credits, you should definitely not switch off Netflix immediately. Because in one Mid credit scene a fateful guest appearance awaits, which sets the course for part 3 of the film series.

Enola Holmes 2 introduces key Sherlock character in end credits scene

After Enola Holmes 2 added David Thewlis (aka Lupin) to the already many Harry Potter actors in the cast and Sharon Duncan-Brewster’s Mira Troy turns out to be the famous Sherlock opponent Moriarty, there seems to be no more desire in terms of stars and characters in the end to stay open, right? Not even close. Because after the Netflix sequel keeps dropping references to being alone and potential Sherlock roommates, nobody else rings the bell at the door of 221B Baker Street in the credits scene dr John WatsonHimesh Patel.

Enola Holmes 2 newcomer: Watson actor Himesh Patel (here in Yesterday)

After Benedict Cumberbatch had his Martin Freeman and Robert Downey Jr. his Jude Law, the newest Sherlock Holmes also got his famous sidekick. You probably know British Watson actor Himesh Patel as the Beatles reinventor from Yesterday or you’ve seen him in supporting roles in Don’t Look Up and Tenet. He also delivered an impressive performance in the sci-fi series Station Eleven.

What does Watson’s Netflix appearance mean for Enola Holmes 3?

That Netflix’s Henry Cavill’s Sherlock Holmes starring Dr. John Watson is finally giving away his detective partner and casting a rising star in the role bodes well for the third installment in the Enola Holmes series. While another sequel hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, author Nancy Springer’s 8-volume Enola Holmes novel series * has it plenty of material for further sequels.

Since Enola Holmes herself has Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge) at her side and her mother Eudoria Holmes (Helena Bonham Carter) does not have to work alone thanks to Edith (Susan Wokoma), it is only logical that Sherlock also gets a supporter. Since, however, already part 2 itself no longer on a single book template of the series, we should not assume that Enola Holmes 3 would slavishly follow the plot of the third book, The Case of the Fateful Flowers*. Especially since Watson (immediately again) disappears and has to be searched for.
