INTERVIEW. French pop group L’Impératrice is currently on tour for their second album, “Tako Tsubo”.
From Brooklyn to Berlin, via Lille, Toulouse or Garorock: L’Impératrice is back on the road for a new tour, showcasing their second album, Tako Tsubo, released just over a year ago. Covid-19 and sanitary measures oblige, the concerts had to wait for better days. Never mind, Flore Benguigui, Charles de Boisseguin, David Gaugué, Hagni Gwon, Achille Trocellier and Tom Daveau are back on the road with a brand new show, making crowds dance in the United States and Europe.
Back on stage after two years of scarcity? “It’s a big boost of love and adrenaline, and it’s especially how we realize how much we missed it!”, confides the group, who “like to be able to see and hear people from the stage, share a real moment with them without barriers.”
On the program of the concerts of L’Impératrice, a pop scenography, giant dancers without heads, but with bobs and luminous hearts. “We did a very dancing new set, impossible to leave people unmoved. After two years of Covid, who doesn’t want to go dancing in the middle of a happy crowd to live music?”, underlines Paris training.
Nominated for the last Victoires de la Musique in the Female Revelation category, L’Impératrice celebrates the first anniversary of Tako Tsubo in a festive, disco and bright atmosphere. It doesn’t matter if we had to wait all this time to dance to it in concert. “It allowed us to prepare this tour as well as possible and above all people had time to soak up the album enough, the challenge now is to make them rediscover the album differently on stage!”, explains the group . And then, going back on stage, as L’Impératrice says, “it’s like cycling after all.”
