Sweden says it is temporarily closing its embassy in Beirut, Lebanon. Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström according to the security situation in the region is very worrying and the conflict threatens to escalate. Staff have been advised to travel to Cyprus.

Billström urges the Swedes to leave the country, because the access to aid in Lebanon will become more difficult after the embassy has moved elsewhere.

Employees of the Finnish embassy are still in Beirut, but the situation is being monitored, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs tells STT.
