The strategic health care committee supports the savings proposal from Skaraborg’s hospital and decides that the emergency room in Lidköping should be closed, according to P4 Skaraborg. It is still unclear when the closure will take place.
One who reacts strongly against the decision is Emma Larsson, who lives in Grästorp.
– I am still in a state of shock. It feels unreasonable and foolhardy and I still haven’t seen any risk and impact analysis.
She herself previously worked at the hospital in Lidköping and was involved in trying to save the emergency department, which had been threatened with closure in batches since 2011.
What do you fear the most?
– That we will miss people. I think, unfortunately, that we will have deaths because the distance to the hospital increases and that there is such a shortage of staff.
Formally, decisions will be made in the committee in a week. It is then up to Skaraborg Hospital to decide when and how the closure will be implemented.
However, the adult psychiatry psychiatry and child and youth psychiatry in Mariestad, which were also threatened by the austerity measures, will not be closed.
