The emergency room in Lidköping is closed – despite protests

The future of the emergency department in Lidköping has been debated for a long time. Last week over 10,000 people protested against the closure plans and concern about how healthcare will be affected is now high among both staff and citizens.

In Skövde, about five miles to the west, a new emergency department was recently inaugurated. And that’s where citizens of Skara in need of emergency care will be allowed to go.

As part of the savings requirements, a number of receptions will also move between the hospitals in Lidköping and Skövde. The hospitals in Mariestad and Falköping will in turn get rid of several receptions.
