In Guémon, the CEI has the results of three of the four departments of this western region. The problem lies at the level of the Kouibly department, where “ violence, massive destruction of materials and the ransacking of the headquarters of the local commission were perpetrated », Indicates a press release from the CEI. Electoral agents had to be exfiltrated by security forces. And according to the CEI, this violence had an impact on 21 of the 34 polling stations in the municipal constituency, which were not able to count.

People were intimidated »

The absence of these results prevents us from giving a score at the regional level. The CEI therefore contacted the Council of State to cancel the electoral and municipal operations of this department.

Very critical, the competing candidates denounce a hostile climate: “ people were intimidated, they received money and motorbikes », says a local official. Some scrutineers would have been corrupted to falsify the minutes, adds a candidate: “ The ballot boxes were not sealed and were filled with pre-made minutes, he said, the announced scores do not match reality. »
