In our review of The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom, we return to one of the series’ favorite places, Morrowind.
We find ourselves in a great adventure again with Necrom, the newest Chapter of The Elder Scrolls Online, which has been going on successfully for a long time. In our The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom review content, you will explore the newly added Telvanni Peninsula, discover the interesting gameplay of the new class called Arcanist, fulfill our duty as the agent of Hermaeus Mora, one of the Daedric Princes, the guardian of forbidden knowledge, and meanwhile defeat the Apocrypha. We will get a chance to see.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom review / PC
You may have heard of Deadric Prince Hermaeus Mora before, he appears or is mentioned in almost every Elder Scrolls game in some way. If I remember correctly, Morrowind might be the only game without a related story, though TES V: Dragonborn was set in Morrowind. Anyway, the point is that Hermorah (another name) has chosen us as her agent and we embark on an adventure that will determine the fate of the realm.
Welcome to Telvannni Peninsula
Throughout the main story of the game, we try to solve the events by traveling both the Telvanni Peninsula and the Apocrypha, the land of Hermorah. The area where we have a lot of mingling with the Dark Elven people is packed with both interesting main quests and numerous side quests to keep us busy for a long time. The end is a little pending, but there is 1 year ahead, it will be enriched with new content.
I really liked the narration of Necrom’s main story. The unfolding events are interesting, the characters next to us are not boring, the dialogues are well written, the voice-over has already peaked during the last two Chapters. We meet a lot with Hermorah, one of the Daedric Princes who are famous for being neither good nor bad, and we can witness their different states.
New Territory and a New Class
With The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom, a new class is added to the game, the magic user Arcanist. Arcanist, which can be used for attack, defense or healing according to your character development style, also adds a gameplay mechanic called Crux. You can increase the effects of the next skill you will use with Crux, which you have accumulated up to 3 pieces. It doesn’t bring much change to the game, but it was fun to spend the combo points you’ve accumulated. I played the whole Necrom pack with Arcanist and I can say I enjoyed Necromancer even more.
The Companion system, which is one of the most pleasing features for solo players, is expanding with two new characters. We meet the Warden named Shar-As-Night, from the Argonian race, who has lost his memory, in the city of Necrom. Azandar Al-Cybiades, who is described as information hungry and crazy by some, appears a little further in the story. Azandar, who belongs to the Redguard race, uses the newly added Arcanist class to the game.
I’ve used both characters for a while, and I’m pretty happy overall. I’ve been going on adventures with Ember since High Isle came out, but I thought a new character and new adventure friends would be nice. The quests we learn about are very enjoyable, especially the quests of Azandar, which we completed by wandering the Apocrypha. Eventually my Khajiit love will take me back to Ember but the new companions are nice. By the way, I can’t go without mentioning that, every time I open a new character, it bothers me to re-do the companion quests that I complete. I wish they would bring a setting.
Let me briefly talk about the new regions and their contents that come with the Necrom package. The Telvanni Peninsula, where we took our first step, is a region that draws attention with its huge mushrooms and interesting structures, prepared in accordance with the atmosphere of Morrowind. It’s visually impressive, but Morrowind’s atmosphere is a bit boring, at the level that makes you walk around saying, “Look, there’s a big mushroom over there”.
In fact, they successfully reflected it in the game. Public Dungeon areas are also fine. The city of Necrom is in a similar situation, visually it’s fine, but I didn’t go around to “see it all around”. As I am used to the eccentric places with High Isles, the atmosphere of this place did not appeal to me, otherwise it is quite good.
Apocrypha, the land of Hermorah, is a completely different experience. We are returning to the land of Oblivion, where we had a chance to tour with TES V: Dragonborn before. As soon as you enter, you get the feeling of “yes, I’m in a place I shouldn’t be”. As the realm was different and unique, the quests were correspondingly interesting. When I say huge stacks of books, flying pages, strange creatures walking around, dark and foreign atmosphere, I really liked this place.
Graphics – Sound – Performance
I hope you are not expecting major updates to the graphics with the Necrom expansion pack. After all, we are faced with an expansion pack, not a new game. I mentioned a little bit above, but the new regions look pretty good. If you expect to see new places similar to the heartwarming environments of the High Isles, I would like to remind you that this is on a darker continent and the Apocrypha is in Oblivion. The animations of both the new regions and the Arcanist class look fine, there’s also the visual fun of pointing the charged book at enemies and raining down death.
I said that the game has improved in the voice-over, the music has always been good, the situation has not changed in Necrom either. The music we hear both while walking around and when we enter the fight is very good. They are also good enough to relax while working or writing outside of the game.
The overall performance of the game is good, most of the technical problems in the game have been fixed. In fact, I can say that it was a smooth experience, apart from a couple of annoying errors that I encountered during my playing. Minor problems such as the boss we are fighting leaving the room and attacking other places, and we have an endless war with the addler in the room at that time, and then we can’t loot the boss. Fortunately, it didn’t happen much.
Conclusion
“Does The Elder Scrolls Online still exist?” I see people asking. Yes, it still exists and it is one of the best MMORPG games on the market in terms of the content it offers. The content it offers with the Necrom expansion pack is enough to satisfy both MMO players and those who follow the TES world. If you say there is no problem, of course, I will talk about them very briefly.
As a person who participated in the betas of The Elder Scrolls Online when it first came out, played for years afterward, lost and bought his account again, something caught my attention when I entered the game, the main structure of the game is still the same. New regions, new classes, a whole world to explore and much more are waiting for us, but we still do what we did when the game first came out.
The quests are numerous but have similar objectives, some problems that have been going on for years still exist, the orientation is not very good for a beginner and the interface/inventory is still useless. This year I thought I’d play with the controller for the first time, and the unusable interface has become even more complicated. Even with mods I could not access a satisfactory interface.
As for the similarity of the quests, there are some side quests that we feel as if we are taking the quest we saw before, this time from a character from another race. I don’t care much for them anymore, because of the troubles of MMORPG games, the main story and special missions are pretty good in terms of story. But the fact that the content of the tasks is always the same, that is, “go clean these things”, “run and grab a potion” can upset those who want a little change. The content is very similar, but similar to each other. There are things like World Events and World Bosses, but we can enter different events.
If you like the world of Elder Scrolls, if you want a game with an immersive story, where you can enter and browse whenever you want without paying a monthly fee, organize your house when you are bored with quests, play two-hand card games (new decks have also been added!), complete dungeons with a companion whenever you want to play on your own. I highly recommend The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom. Considering the course of the story, I think we will also see a lot of different content during this year.
The Elder Scrolls Online is currently on Steam It is sold at a price of around 54 TL with a 70% discount. If you start the game with this package that includes the main game and The Morrowind Chapter and you think you enjoy the game, you can also download the Necrom package. you can buy. With the non-mandatory monthly Plus membership, you can add all legacy add-ons and some special privileges to your account as well. It takes time to get used to the interface, but I recommend the game for everything else.
