Every year, Sweden gives hundreds of millions of kroner in aid to Iraq. Critics believe that it would be an important mark to withdraw aid.
– Iraq is a middle-income country with an incredibly high degree of corruption, which has large oil resources. Of all the countries we can choose to get involved with aid in, perhaps this should not be our highest priority, says Hanna Hellquist, writer at SVD.
According to Sweden’s Aid Minister Johan Forssell, the government has started work on reforming Swedish aid, which will be presented this autumn.
