The 2023 International Journalism Conference took place this year in Tours in the middle of the Week of the press and the media in the school. Also The media workshop met there with Serge Barbet, Deputy Director of the Education and Information Media Liaison Center (Clémi), to discuss current issues in media and information education (EMI).
He is celebrating his 40th birthday this year. ! THE Clemi is the body responsible for media and information education in the French education system. Its mission is to to promote (…) the pluralistic use of the means of information in education in order to promote a better understanding by pupils of the world around them while developing their critical sense ».
Each year, the Clémi organizes the Press and media week in schools. By a happy coincidence, the International Journalism Conference 2023 were held in Tours at the same time, the week of March 27.
The media workshop seized the opportunity to extend his microphone to Serge Barbet, deputy director of Clémi. In this interview of about twenty minutes, it is a question of the synergies which are affirmed between the two events, of the current dynamics of the EMI against the backdrop of multiple crises, of the duty of responsibility of the media and of journalists, but also of the issues of the EMI in the French-speaking world.
