It was on Monday that the man, setting the tone in the Swedish criminal environment, was murdered in Istanbul.
He had previously been in Spain, but in recent years, just like many other gang-criminal Swedes, has sought to go to Turkey.
At the time of his death, the man was in custody in his absence, suspected of particularly serious drug smuggling. He had previously been convicted of, among other things, serious weapons offences, but the prison sentence was never carried out.
The man’s stepfather, also a Swedish citizen and internationally wanted, has now been arrested in Turkey. According to several reports to SVT.
“We have been contacted by the same information, and are following this up with our international contacts, at this stage we can neither confirm nor deny, but we are clearly working to get information about the case,” the police press department writes in an email.
Suspected of drug offences
The two are suspected of having organized drug smuggling to Sweden, according to SVT’s information. The stepfather has also been detained in his absence, among other things suspected of serious drug offences.
Expressen writes that the stepson is suspected of having organized the smuggling of 115 kilos of cocaine to Sweden in 2020, and describes him as one of Rawa Majid and the Foxtrot network’s main rivals.
Social media accounts linked to the Foxtrot criminal network have claimed responsibility for the murder.
– The signals from this environment are that there will be consequences, because it was a person with a wide network of contacts and family ties to prominent criminal figures, SVT’s crime reporter Diamant Salihu has previously said.
Details: Swedish murder suspect arrested
The arrest of the stepfather is the latest in a series of events surrounding Swedish criminals who settled in Turkey. This week, another Swedish wanted man was also arrested in the tourist resort of Bodrum.
P4 Kronoberg and P3 Krim reports that he is detained in absentia on suspicion of inciting a murder in Växjö, where a 30-year-old woman was shot dead. SVT has also had the information confirmed.
A Swedish man in his 20s is also suspected of the murder of the Swede and was arrested in Turkey, according to information to SVT Nyheter. Sweden and Turkey have strengthened their cooperation after Sweden’s NATO membership, but there is no extradition agreement between the countries at the moment.
