After the start of the early access phase of Conan Exiles, there was one main topic: the penis slider. It was therefore only a matter of time before the equipment control had to be on the table in Dune: Awakening.
How detailed is Dune: Awakening’s character editor? Let’s get the elephant’s trunk out of the room first: No, in Funcom’s new game there won’t be a slider with which you can adjust the size of your alter ego’s body.
In Conan Exiles, Funcom’s last survival hit, that’s exactly what has been possible for more than seven years – and the chattering, slobbering genitals have been discussed up and down the internet. Alternatively, you can also choose the more prudish game variants without explicit nudity.

Who brought up the topic of penis sliders? PC Gamer’s Christopher Livingston had the opportunity to speak to the developers of the Dune MMO about such important topics during GDC 2024 in San Francisco.
The developers then even explained why this customization option is missing:
Ah, so Dune isn’t as… sexy as Conan Exiles?! This is not one of the most important, I would say… pillars of IP. So we want to focus more on the Dune stuff than what we did in Conan Exiles.
Executive producer Scott Junior
Livingston didn’t let up. He asked whether they had at least considered the feature at some point or whether they had visited Frank Herbert’s estate to get the nod for adjustable genitals.
But there was probably no quotable answer to this question. Let’s be clear: The topic of penises is not one in the Dune universe. Totally stupid or all too understandable given the setting? Feel free to tell us your opinion about equipment controls in games in general and in Dune: Awakening in particular in the comments.
What, on the other hand, is a really important topic in the new Funcom project: No, you don’t play a Fremen in Dune: Awakening – This is how the new survival MMO starts on Steam
