The DRC wants to speed up the withdrawal of Monusco

In his correspondence, the Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs recalls that this withdrawal has been announced since 2018.

By its resolution of March 27, 2018, the Security Council had set the start of the withdrawal of MONUSCO by 2024. The DRC wants the start of the withdrawal of troops from the UN mission in the country to take place at the end of the current year.

In his correspondence, the head of Congolese diplomacy notes the seriousness of the security crisis in the east of the country and then evokes eighteen reasons why Monusco has lost its credibility and even the confidence of the Congolese. She disqualified herself, writes Christophe Lutundula, for whom in the eyes of the Congolese population, Monusco has become a problem to be solved and not a solution to the crisis. The rejection of the UN mission by the Congolese, explains Lutundula, is all the stronger since the Nairobi and Luanda processes are blocked by Rwanda and the M23 who refuse to obey the demands of the international community.

The end of the Rwandan aggression and the eradication of armed terrorist groups including the M23 are therefore considered by Kinshasa as the priority and the urgency of the moment to bring peace to the East.
