It is an automatic water extinguisher, a so-called sprinkler system, which is the reason why a performance had to be canceled on Wednesday evening.
– It’s on the roof and if there’s a fire, they speed up, says Marie Nordahl, line operator at the rescue service.
Special forces on site
One of the heads has broken and water has started leaking into the room. When the emergency services arrived at Dramaten shortly after 8 pm on Wednesday evening, the premises had already been evacuated.
– We have a special force that has been called to the scene and will help. They will help clean up the water on the floor, says Marie Nordahl, line operator at the rescue service to the newspaper and continues:
– They have pumps and scrapers, like water vacuum cleaners that can take care of large amounts of water.
But when the work is estimated to be finished at the site, the rescue service cannot answer that yet. This is the second time in less than a week that spectators have been showered with water from the roof.
