Carbonell received the award in the category Best director under 40, writes Non Stop Entertainment in a press release.
“Dogborn” is both Isabella Carbonell’s directorial debut and hip-hop star Silvana Imam’s acting debut. It is about a pair of twins who deal with trafficking and Philip Oros plays Imam’s brother.
The film was the only completely Swedish film that was included in the official program in Venice this year. Ruben Östlund’s “Triangle of sadness” does not count as Swedish in this context as it has English speech and a majority of Hollywood actors.
