Xavier Yvon: I must admit that I had no idea where to start this podcast on Elon Musk… because we no longer know how to present him so much he wears hats and projects: SpaceX rockets, Tesla electric cars, futuristic tunnels from The Boring Company, solar panels from SolarCity, brain implants from Neuralink, and of course the social network Twitter…

So I went back to the episode we had devoted to him at the very beginning of La Loupe… we had titled it “Elon the Coherent”, because all his activities, as disjointed as they seem, actually serve an ultimate goal: make man a multi-planetary species, with Mars as the first destination to colonize… Listen to this excerpt with Béatrice Mathieu, Economy reporter at L’Express…

Xavier Yvon: If I summarize, tomorrow I will go to Mars aboard a Musk rocket. Once there, I move into a base powered by Musk solar panels. I will travel through a network of Musk tunnels in a self-driving Musk car. Is there anything else, Beatrice?

Beatrice Mathieu: Well, yes, we will communicate through a kind of Internet, thanks to the constellations of satellites. And there, it is Starlink and the constellations that it is installing today above the Earth. But there, one could imagine, above Mars.

Xavier Yvon: All this may seem crazy and distant to you… and yet…

Elon Musk has already proven that he can succeed when everyone laughs at his ambitions… He has revolutionized two industries deemed impregnable, space and the automobile…

But then, where does this tenacity come from, this faith in his ability to succeed where others fail? How did the reserved little boy, raised in South Africa during apartheid, become this technophile and wealthy guru who fascinates as much as he annoys?

In this double podcast we invite you to enter the mind of Elon Musk… you will meet his aviator ancestor, you will hear his father, you will travel from Soweto to Texas, and you will discover “muskism”…
