The display of your PC will be much more comfortable with this very simple setting

Too many people ignore this your PCs display will

The text, the icons, the windows and the images that are displayed on the screen of your computer are too small or on the contrary too large? Use this option to immediately find the size that suits you.

You just turned on for the first time your new brand new laptop and all the elements on the screen are too big, so much so that you cannot display more than one window at a time? Or, on the contrary, you have just connected your super new office instructor with a 4K definition and everything is so small that you can barely read the names of the icons on your desk? Do not panic, it is a very common situation and Windows has a very simple option to respond specifically to this problem.

On the Internet, it is very easy to enlarge or reduce the size of a page at its convenience using the zoom function integrated into the browser. But modifying the dimensions of the graphic elements of the operating system, such as icons, the taskbar or the text, is not as intuitive.

Admittedly, on Windows, it is possible to modify the size of the office icons as on a web page, zooming and diszoaming using the key Ctrl of the keyboard and the mouse wheel. But how to change the size of the other displayed elements? If you have already faced this problem, you may have tried to modify a Windows parameter called (wrongly) Screen resolution And which appears in the form of a multiplication: 1920 x 1080, 2560 x 1440 or 3840 x 2160. This value means not the resolution but the definition of your screen, and if changing it allows to enlarge or reduce the size of the elements displayed, its modification often leads to adverse effects, such as an unsightly horizontal stretch or a general fuzzy on the screen.

In reality, the right setting to be used right next to the unnamed Screen resolution. To find it, open the Parameters of Windows, then go to the section System > Screen And look for an option titled Scaling. This should display a value expressed as a percentage, such as 100%, 150%or 200%, perhaps followed by the mention “(recommended)”. To modify it, simply click on the percentage and select another from the drop-down, smaller or larger list depending on whether you want to shrink or enlarge your display.

The modification applies immediately and you will find that all the elements displayed on the screen, be it icons, buttons, windows or the text have become larger or smaller. But unlike the change of definition, the scaling retains the right proportions of the different graphic objects and does not introduce vagueness to texts or images. To be exact, it happens that some old applications do not support scaling well and become slightly blurred. The cases are however increasingly rare and it is then possible to individually deactivate the scaling for the problematic application.
