The hockey people are surprised by the firing of top player Corey Perry from the Chicago Blackhawks.
One of the great ice hockey players Corey Perry38, moved to Chicago last summer and managed to play 16 NHL games in his new club before his career, at least with the Blackhawks, ended.
In an official statement from the Blackhawks the club is said to have determined, after its internal investigation, that Perry has engaged in conduct that is unacceptable to the club and that violates both the terms of the player contract and the Blackhawks’ internal policies.
– He broke the rules, the purpose of which is to promote a professional and safe work environment. Consequently, Perry has been placed on the NHL transfer list. If Perry passes it, we plan to terminate his contract immediately.
Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson appeared at a press conference where he commented on the cancellation of Perry’s contract. The appearance of the NHL boss exuded shock and it was therefore even unnerving to watch at times.
– This has been very difficult. It’s been a tough couple of days, Davidson admitted.
According to ESPN Something happened between Perry and a club employee last Tuesday when the team traveled to Columbus. Perry was pulled from the lineup on matchday morning.
Davidson did not give reasons for Perry’s firing, but said the decision was made by the club. Earlier on Saturday, Davidson said Perry has been sidelined by the club’s decision, while Perry’s agent Pat Morris said the decision was Perry’s.
At the same time, Davidson clarified that “this does not concern other players or their family members” and wanted to cut the wings of malicious rumors spread on social media.
– Anyone who claims otherwise is dead wrong, and it’s frankly disgusting.
At the same time, GM confirmed that it is a “workplace incident, not a criminal matter”. The NHL and the players’ association NHLPA are also aware of the events.
Perry is a 19-year NHL veteran who has won practically everything possible.
When the hockey world often talks about the “three gold club” of thirty players, whose players have championships from the World Cup, the Olympics and the NHL, Perry has scored even better.
In Perry’s trophy cabinet, you can find victory medals from the Stanley Cup, the World Cup, the Olympics, the World Championships, the Junior World Championships and the Memorial Cup (Canadian Junior Championship). Only Perry’s countryman, the Canadian defense legend, has been able to do the same before Scott Niedermayer.
