Dr. İsmet Anıl Berk, Internal Medicine Specialist at Kırşehir Education and Research Hospital, addressed those aged 40 and above. The doctor explained the most common type of cancer. He stated that citizens who experience symptoms of lymphoma cancer such as fever, weight loss and night sweats should consult a physician for early diagnosis.
IT SHOULD BE REALIZED BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE
Stating that lymphoma progresses slowly in the human body, Dr. Anıl Berk said, “Lymphoma is a type of cancer that occurs when lymphocytes, which are blood cells that protect our body against febrile diseases, multiply and grow abnormally.”
Dr. Anıl Berk said that this type of cancer is most commonly seen in the lymph nodes. The doctor stated that the disease progresses painlessly in the human body. Dr. Anıl Berk said, “It can often be seen in the spleen, stomach, skin and bone marrow. Lymphoma has 2 types. It is called aggressive lymphoma and benign lymphoma. Although it is a type of cancer that increases after the age of 40, lymphoma can be seen at any age.”
Stating that people who see symptoms of lymphoma should go to the hospital without wasting time, Dr. Anıl Berk continued his explanation as follows; “When the patient usually sees the doctor, they say that there is a painless swelling in the neck, armpit and groin. Among the symptoms of lymphoma, what doctors call B Symptoms; Fever, weight loss and sweating enough to change underwear are very important and may indicate a bad course. One should be alert for lymphoma and even if a few of the symptoms are seen, a doctor should be consulted immediately for early diagnosis.”
