The director quits after threats: “Took hard”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Niclas Björkman gave the message to the chairman Christer Trägårdh on Friday morning, writes the local newspaper Corren.

Björkman tells how, on three occasions, after Thursday’s SHL match against Timrå, he was confronted by angry and disgruntled supporters.

— There have been a number of minor incidents during the course of the season, but now it escalated. With hindsight, perhaps we should have reacted earlier. On one occasion another LHC employee was with me, on the other two I was alone with a bunch of so-called supporters. It became a strange and cramped situation that didn’t feel right, says the 50-year-old.

Furthermore, he says that the family has also been involved and felt unsafe. In the end it became an unsustainable situation.

“I may not have taken it so seriously before, but when the family reacts and you put everything together, it becomes an unpleasant threat,” says Niclas Björkman.

LHC parks in eleventh place, outside the playoffs, in the SHL table.
