the different political communication strategies during the summer

The return to politics is approaching in France. In a week, the members of the government will return to the Élysée Palace for the traditional Council of Ministers back to school. During this summer break, everyone adopted a very different communication strategy. A noisy holiday for some, and much quieter for others.

Discretion is what Emmanuel Macron chose for his vacation. Apart from a visit to the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaullethe Head of State most often stayed behind the walls of Fort Brégançon.

Nothing to do with Elisabeth Borne. The Prime Minister wanted to show that she was on the bridge. She did not hesitate to interrupt her vacation to go to Wintzenheim, in the east of France, after the fire which killed eleven people.

A trip in the absence of the one who coveted Matignon, but remained Minister of the Interior. Gérald Darmanin, who nevertheless multiplied this summer on the ground, from Périgueux to Polynesia, to make up for his disappointment.

A visibility strategy followed by certain new ministers, Aurore Bergé at Solidarity and Sabrina Agresti-Roubache at the City, very prominent in the media. Just like Gabriel Attal, promoted to Education, traveling this week to Reunion for the start of the school year.

And then there are the postcard-loving vacationers. Bruno Le Maire was photographed in the middle of a hike, when Olivier Véran appeared cutting carrots.

A duel in the kitchen with the communist leader, Fabien Roussel, and his herring salad recipe, filmed from his campsite.
