The Diamond League saw two world records from superstars

Armand Duplantis and Gudaf Tsegay broke world records in the Eugene Diamond League finals on Sunday. The competition day was very tough anyway.

Ethiopian Gudaf Tsegay and Sweden Armand Duplantis were responsible for the most spectacular performances of the day in Eugene, USA on Sunday. The duo forged world records in the Diamond League final. This was already the seventh ME for pole vaulter Duplantis, but Tsegay improved his own record by more than 12 seconds at 5000 meters.

With a time of 14:00,21 Tsegay crushed By Faith Kipyegon by almost five seconds of the world record he ran in June. The 26-year-old Tsegay sealed the record when he raced the final two laps to around 65 seconds.

Kenya, who ran second in the competition Beatrice Chebet ran his own record with a time of 14:05.92.

Duplantis famously improved his old world record by a centimeter when he cleared 623 on his first pole vault. The Olympic champion jumped only four times in the competition and cleared each height on his first attempt. On outdoor tracks, Duplantis’ previous record was 621 from last summer.

Jumped to second place in the competition John Ernest Obiena with a result of 582. Sam Kendricks was third with a score of 572. 23-year-old Duplantis lost only one race in his outdoor track season, when he was fourth in the Monaco Diamond League in June.

Tough results were achieved in Eugene anyway. Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen ran a thriller-like 3000 meters to set a new European record. The Norwegian monster won the race with a time of 7:23.63, but the Ethiopian Yomif Kejelcha lost only one hundredth.

Kejelcha’s time is the record for Ethiopia and third for the American who ran by Grant Fisher clocking 7:25.47 is a North American record.

Ingebrigtsen cut to almost 54 seconds in the last lap, but Kejelcha was still in the final meters to pass the Olympic champion.

Men’s 800 meters in Kenya Emmanuel Wanyonyi ran the season’s best time 1:42.80. Before the competition in Eugene, no one had broken the 1.43 mark this season. A world star also did it in Eugene Marco Arop and Algerian Djamel Sedjati. Arop’s time is a Canadian record.

In the women’s corresponding race, Athing Mu ran to victory with the continental record and the world season’s top result of 1:54.97, to the delight of the home crowd. of Great Britain Keelly Hodgkinson was second with his country’s record 1:55.19.

The top result of the season was also seen in the women’s high jump, when Ukraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh exceeded 203. Jamaica Hansle Parchment was able to do the same in the 110-meter hurdles, when he clocked a top time of 12.93 despite his weak start.
