In Helldivers 2, the humans won the fight against the robots, but a week before they even surprised the developers.
How were the developers surprised? Just a few weeks ago, hardly any players wanted to fight against the robots. Most players preferred to devote themselves to the beetles and, especially at the start of the game, didn’t care much about what general orders were given by the supreme command.
But at one point the players’ behavior changed. Suddenly 70% of the Helldivers fought against the robots and followed the general order.
This surprised even the developers, community manager “Spitz” wrote on the Helldivers Discord: “We actually expected that a lot fewer players would switch to the Automaton front, 70% is huge.”
A new war bond will be released soon, you can see the trailer for the “Democatic Detonation” war bond here.
70% of players care about the fall of the robots
How did you get so many players? After the beginnings of Helldivers, more and more players became interested in the general orders and the roleplay behind Helldivers 2. The peak was reached at the end of March when 70% of the players decided to fight against the robots.
The players of Helldivers 2 are organized into many different communities that are networked with each other. Plans about which planets to attack next are regularly shared on Reddit. The players and their plans got better and better and the final victory over the robots was achieved.
Are the players’ plans working? The players’ plans usually work, but not always. This has already caused a lot of discussion in the Helldivers 2 community. The “Bugdivers”, i.e. the players who only want to fight against bugs, were strongly attacked by the other players.
So strong that the community manager “Spitz” had to get involved. He wrote on Discord: “70% of players fought bots and we got Ubanea to 96% before Draupnir fell. I would say people have no problem fighting where the General Command sends them.”
Now that the robots have been defeated, only the beetles remain to oppose the Helldivers. You can’t fight the robots anymore, even if you don’t like the beetles. But players want to find out that another faction is already involved: Players find evidence in Helldivers 2 that a new enemy faction is already involved
