In Helldivers 2, the developers are now taking a different approach to balancing the weapons. The topic has been hotly debated from the start, but now there is a turnaround. The developers have now presented their first ideas.
What is the current problem with Helldivers? The developers of Helldivers 2 are currently working on revamping their game. They are particularly concerned with weapon balance, which has been a thorn in the side of many players since the game’s launch.
After a few unfortunate updates, the developers promised to fix their game within 60 days. Players aren’t unhappy with the basic game at all, but rather with the fact that all of the weapons in the game feel too weak. If a weapon is strong, it will probably be nerfed again quickly.
In their new patch, which is due to be released on September 17th, the developers are making major improvements to some weapons.
The next patch will be about flamethrowers, among other things. But things also got fiery with the war bond “Flame of Freedom”
Four times as much damage and no nerfs
Which weapon is it? The Railgun in Helldivers 2 will be greatly improved in the next patch. Durable Damage will be increased from 60 to 225. These numbers refer to the Railgun’s safe mode.
In unsafe mode, the weapon now does 250% more damage when fully overloaded, instead of just 150% more damage. If you don’t fully overload the weapon, starting September 17th, when the patch is released, you will do a full 150% extra damage instead of 50%.
The weapon will not receive a nerf or any other devaluation with the patch. As developer Niklas Malmborg revealed when asked by X.com, the time to overcharge will also remain exactly the same.
Will the railgun remain in the patch? No, the developers also want to buff other weapons with the patch. For example, the damage of flamethrowers will be increased by 33%. On Discord, Johan Pilestedt writes: “The update we are now launching is a much larger, holistic measure to reorient the gameplay […]“
He goes on to say that many people liked the weapons like the flamethrower, the railgun and the R-36 Eruptor because they were good at dealing with heavily armored enemies. This wasn’t planned at the time, but is now set to come back.
Pilestedt also writes on Discord that a squad of “madmen” equipped with four flamethrowers should be able to take out a Bile Titan in the future. The patch, which is due to be released on September 17, should therefore be exciting. Recently, players thought that the new faction would finally come into play: Helldivers 2: A third faction enters the galactic war, but Over-Earth says: That was just a system error
