A new game in the Destiny universe has been announced and shown in a first trailer – but it’s from the developers of Diablo Immortal.
What kind of game is this? Bungie and Chinese developer NetEase today debuted Destiny: Rising – a new loot shooter in the Destiny universe. Bungie provided the license, but the game is developed by NetEase. NetEase is known for games like Diablo Immortal and Naraka: Bladepoint, among others.
Destiny: Rising will be released as a free-to-play game for mobile devices and is set in an alternate timeline during the Dark Ages. You will be able to play a variety of characters, some of which are familiar from Destiny 1 and 2 and others who are completely new.
Ahead of the announcement, there were numerous leaks and rumors that said there would be a Destiny game for mobile.
Here you can see the first trailer:
Say farewell to Titan, Warlock and Hunter
What is known about Destiny: Rising? Destiny: Rising doesn’t have the classes you know from Destiny 2. Instead of Warlock, Titan and Hunter, there are different characters that you can choose and play as classes. These characters are so-called light bearers, all of whom have their own story and different abilities.
However, NetEase announced that Destiny: Rising will also feature familiar modes from the Destiny games – including campaign missions and co-op Strikes played with 6 players. There will also be new PvE and PvP modes.
The special innovations of Destiny: Rising also include a new weapon rarity: the so-called mystical weapons.
Not much is known about the monetization of Destiny: Rising. All we know is that it will be a F2P game. However, it can be assumed that you can buy cosmetic content, for example.
Diablo Immortal, which is also from NetEase, has repeatedly struggled with persistent P2W accusations and criticism of the monetization system in this country. You can find out more here: YouTuber reveals how “crazy Pay2Win” is the new game from Blizzard
