The transfer market of the Ice Hockey SM League did not see very many transfers this year. The market was empty in Europe, as practically only Vaasa Sport and Lappeenranta SaiPa gave up their players.
Many players headed to the Swedish club. One of them was the Leijonat keeper, who headed to Skellefteå, the league runner-up of the SHL Frans Tuohimaa.
Tuohimaa’s transfer was shaken, because according to Jukurie’s press release, the contract was terminated at the player’s request. The head coach of the Mikkeli team Olli Jokinen was surprised by Tuohimaa’s decision.
– As a coach, I am disappointed. He had the biggest contract in club history, Someone told Iltalehte (you will switch to another service).
According to the release, Tuohimaa, who won Olympic and World Cup gold as a triple goalkeeper last year, was dissatisfied with the playing time available to him.
Second guard Markus Ruusu In the last matches, he took over the responsibility of the save, when he saved four victories for Mikkeli. Tuohimaa’s save percentage of 89.5 has been the lowest in the series.
– I understand that the player has pain and worries about his own future, but such a solution leaves some kind of mark on the player’s character. Tells what he’s really like, when at this point the towel is thrown on the counter, Jokinen annoyed Ilta-Sanom (you switch to another service).
Tuohimaa told MTV Urheilu (you will switch to another service), that he has had a good relationship with Jokinen. However, he wondered about Jokinen’s words about the biggest contract in the club’s history.
– At the moment, salaries are not open in the SM league. As long as it has been decided like this, then salaries will not be discussed, Tuohimaa commented.
Tuohimaa, who signed a contract with Jukurei a year ago during the World Cup, wondered if he should have been more patient in the contract market.
– Pretty quickly I started to feel pain with the fact that I am now in the wrong place in my own career. The failures in Mikkeli felt much harder than if you had been in a club where you originally wanted to be this season, Tuohimaa told MTV.
Lukko, who signed the Canadian defender, was responsible for the hardest transfer within the SM league Shaun Heshkan to their ranks. JYP would also have had interesting names, but the club did not want to sell their players, but to fight to the end for a playoff spot.
The SM league’s transfer market, clearance sales and series systems were discussed in more detail in Puhe’s Ice Hockey round. As a reporter Jussi Paasi and as an expert Ismo Lehkonen.
SM league player transfers for this calendar year:
The list does not take into account transfers where the player has been to another team on a loan contract for a few matches. Transfers of junior players to Mesti, for example, have also been left out of the list, as in many cases league clubs can call these young players back to their team with a special rule.
