The government and SD invest SEK 3.4 billion in a new dental care reform.
The proposal involves, among other things, greatly expanded high-cost protection, similar to that found in other care, for people who are 67 years of age or older.
– Economic scarcity is one reason why many elderly people, despite great need, do not go to the dentist. It gives them a worse life, says Minister of Social Affairs Jakob Forssmed (KD).
In connection with that, they also want to lower the age for free dental care – from 23 to 19 years. This was announced in last year’s autumn budget and is said to be necessary to afford the reform.
The changes are expected to enter into force on 1 January 2026.
