In its Facebook update, the European Parliament group of the Social Democrats accuses Petteri Orpo of pandering to the extreme right. The publication has since been removed.
Finnish government official Petteri Orpoa (cok.) the acting doll is sitting Riikka Purran (ps.) on the knee. Next to it, in huge letters, it says: “Extreme right-wing puppets.”
The European Parliament group of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) published a mockumentary on Tuesday evening, the message of which is clear: by letting Perussuomalaiset into the government, the coalition surrenders to the control of the extreme right.
In an update published in conjunction with the cartoon, S&D also criticized the coalition’s European Parliament group EPP for enabling the far-right to operate in Europe.
The S&D group removed their update less than a day after publication.
MEP Miapetra Kumpula-Natri commented on the matter on Twitter on behalf of the Finnish delegation of the S&D group.
– This S&D group update has been deleted, so it can no longer be found. European political culture is different, this does not really suit Finland. I hope not in the future. It requires action and responsibility from everyone!
In Finland, basic Finns are used to talking about as a right-wing or right-wing populist party, but for example Politico reports (you go to another service) that the Finnish extreme right has reached the government negotiations.
Far-rightism became a talking point in the elections, when Marin called (you switch to another service) the possible government of the coalition and basic Finns as “blue black”. This was interpreted as a reference to the far-right Lapua movement and the newer blue-black movement.
The orphan was offended by the comparison, and Marin ended up apologizing for it.
