Defense Minister Pål Jonson (M) had a planned visit to Turkey next week. Now he is stopped from traveling to the country, announced Turkey’s defense minister on Saturday.
Jonson was invited to Ankara last week by his Turkish counterpart. The meeting would thus have become the first between Swedish and Turkish government representatives after the diplomatic crisis that arose after the Erdogan doll was hung outside the City Hall in Stockholm. Several demonstrations linked to Sweden’s NATO application are expected to be held in Stockholm on Saturday.
