Members of the Riksdag’s defense committee have been visiting Ukraine this week, including in Kiev and in the war-torn city of Butja, where a large number of Ukrainians were murdered in the opening days of the war.

All parliamentary parties were represented during the visit, including through the chairman Peter Hultqvist (S), Anna Starbrink (L), Hanna Gunnarsson (V), Helena Bouveng (M), Mikael Larsson (C), Lars Wistedt (SD) and Mikael Oscarsson (KD ). During the visit to Kiev, the air raid siren sounded and the members of parliament had to seek shelter in the nearest shelter.

Oscarsson says that it is important to show support for Ukraine and to be there to see the mass graves for yourself. The country needs continued support to defend itself against Russia and to be able to regain its territory.

– They want the Gripen, of course. And my input is a hope that it will be possible to spare, says Mikael Oscarsson.
