The decrepit bus shelter got a boost – now the initiative is being praised

A smelly, smelly bus shelter was cleaned up and decorated. Now you can pick up finished books and the initiative is also praised by SL despite the secrecy behind the guerrilla interior.

– We did this a little in the dark, says Anna Modig in Efter fem.

Out on Ingarö in Stockholm’s archipelago, more precisely at Återvall, stands one of SL’s red bus shelters. The Modig family, who live nearby, thought it was both dirty and smelled bad, something Nacka Värmdö Posten was the first to report on.

– There was snus and alcohol thrown in the bus shelter, it was not fresh, says Sigrid Modig in Efter fem.

“We did this a bit in the dark”

A couple of weeks ago, mother Anna had enough and enlisted the help of daughters Sigrid and Vera to start the project to freshen up the bus shelter. First, they started by scrubbing and cleaning out the bus shed before doing what they call a guerilla interior, taking leftovers from a flea market.

– We did this a little in the dark, says Anna Modig.

They put some books there that you can take with you if you want, they put the flea market stuff there and then they also painted a rag rug in the concrete on the ground.

This is how SL responds to the measure

The decorated bus shelter has received very positive reactions on social media and now their initiative has also been praised by SL.

– It is fantastic, says Claes Keisu, press communicator at SL to Nacka Värmdö Posten, but at the same time points out that you are not allowed to do this at SL’s bus shelters. But since they have done it in a nice way, you look between the fingers on this according to SL.
