The decision on the mine in Stekenjokk is appealed to the government

Vilhelmina Mineral, which is owned by Bluelake Mineral, received a positive and a negative decision on its applications for the Stekenjokk area in October. The processing concession for the copper, zinc, lead, gold and silver deposit Levi near the Stekenjokk deposit was granted. But it was rejected to resume operation of the old mine.

– Regarding Vilhelmina Mineral AB’s application for Stekenjokk, the miner’s overall assessment is that the company has not been able to demonstrate a deposit that can be utilized financially and has therefore rejected the application, the Mining State wrote about the decision at the time.

Both decisions are appealed

Bluelake Mineral is now appealing that decision to the government, but parts of the decision regarding the approved mining project are also being appealed.

– The decision concerning Levi is being appealed because the company believes that mining operations during the month of April should be allowed without the opportunity for the reindeer herders to stop the operations. The decision regarding Stekenjokk is being appealed as the company believes, among other things, that the Mining State has already previously approved ore proof for Stekenjokk and that this decision cannot be changed due to administrative law principles, writes Bluelake Mineral on its website.

The company is applying for a two-week grace period to complete its appeal.
