According to the statement of the Senate of Uzbekistan, the Senate Plenary Session, the upper house of the parliament, approved amendments to the Law “On the Legal Status of Foreign Nationals in Uzbekistan”.
According to the amendment approved by the Senate, those who insult the honor, dignity or history of Uzbekistan and its people or who commit such acts will be banned from entering the country. If they are found on the territory of Uzbekistan, they will be declared “persona non grata” and deported.
A list of foreign nationals who speak or commit acts that violate the sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of Uzbekistan, as well as cause social, national and religious hostility between states, and humiliate the honor, dignity or history of the people will be kept.

Foreign nationals on the list by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs may be removed from the list before the expiration of the period if they eliminate the reasons for their removal.
Foreign nationals on the list will not be allowed to enter or stay in Uzbekistan for five years, and will also face restrictions on opening bank accounts or owning real estate in the country.
The amendment to the law, approved by the Senate and sent to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, will enter into force after it is signed.
