At least 112 people have died in the fires raging in Chile. President Gabriel Boric warns that the death toll will rise “significantly” as search efforts continue in residential areas that have burned down.
In the tourist area of Valparaíso, fires rage in the middle of the summer heat with temperatures of up to 40 degrees during the weekend.
Late on Sunday, the Ministry of the Interior states that 40 fires are still raging in the country.
According to the mayor of the badly fire-ravaged community of Viña del Mar, 190 people are still missing there.
