The death toll rises after the bloody terrorist attack in Moscow

It was during the Friday evening that the cold-blooded terrorist attack occurred. Camouflaged men opened fire at the Crocus concert hall in Moscow, killing a large number of people.

At first, the Russian authorities stated that at least 40 people had been killed – but it is a death toll that keeps growing. During Saturday morning, at least 60 people are said to have died and 145 were injured in the attack, according to data from the Russian Ministry of Health.

According to Russian health authorities, at least three children must also be among the dead.

“Probably more than the two who are behind the act”

People fled in panic

It was the Russian rock band Piknik who were just about to start their concert when it happened. In pictures, visitors can be seen screaming and fleeing in panic and seeking shelter while the men with automatic weapons shoot indiscriminately.

The perpetrators allegedly set off explosive objects and threw firebombs that caused a large fire in the building. On films, you could see the open flames and how black smoke billowed out of the building.

IS has claimed the attack

Late on Friday evening, the Islamic terrorist group IS claimed responsibility for the deed on its Telegram channel.

– It is not entirely strange because IS sees Russia as one of its biggest enemies. This goes back several years. For example, when Russia took sides in the war in Syria and fought IS, it became a red flag, says TV4 Nyhetern’s foreign affairs commentator Lisa Grenfors.

The Telegram channel Baza, which is linked to Russia’s security service, writes that two suspected perpetrators have been arrested.
