The death toll in the LA fires is rising

24 people have been confirmed dead in the fires in the Los Angeles area, according to authorities. Eight of them in the Palisades fire, 16 in the Eaton fire. The fires have almost raged for a week and the authorities warn that the winds are expected to increase in strength and make fighting even more difficult. “It’s going to be really strong Santa Ana winds, very dry air and still very dry in the ground,” said Rich Thompson, a meteorologist with the US National Weather Service.
