More than 1,700 people have now been confirmed dead after Friday’s earthquake in Myanmar, the country’s military junta announces on Monday.

At the same time, over 3,400 are damaged and another 300 are missing.

WHO has sent out an emergency request to gather the equivalent of just over SEK 80 million to Myanmar after Friday’s devastating earthquake.

According to the UN agency, the money is needed to be able to deliver trauma care, prevent disease outbreaks and restore basic care functions, ”writes WHO in a P Ress message.

Neighboring Thailand and its capital Bangkok were also affected by the disaster. There, 17 people have so far been confirmed dead while another 100 people are injured or missing.
