The death toll continues to rise after massive winter storms

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The death toll is rising in the wake of the freezing extreme weather that has ravaged large parts of the United States in recent days. At least 18 deaths can now be linked to the storm chaos, which is expected to ease in the coming days.

“Really boring”

Buffalo, in the state of New York on the border with Canada, is one of the places where Christmas Eve night has been the hardest and the message to people here is simple: Those of you who have a home – stay inside. Those of you who have a car – don’t use it.

“It’s really sad for everyone who doesn’t have the opportunity to celebrate Christmas with their loved ones, but it’s more important that people are safe,” New York Governor Kathy Hochul said at a press conference.

Homeless people freeze to death

Car accidents, homeless people frozen to death and hundreds stuck in their cars mean that it will take some time before the authorities can fully see the consequences of the storm and ice cold of the last few days. But the thawing weather that is expected in the coming week will probably be welcomed by most.
