The Day Before is the most requested multiplayer game on Steam – but the new 4K trailer has gamers doubting it

Survival game The Day Before has released a new trailer, but it has players questioning the graphical quality of the much-anticipated title.

What game is it? The Day Before is a survival game that will be released on Steam on March 1st, 2023. You have to fight for survival during a zombie apocalypse.

An important part of The Day Before is also PvP. In addition to the struggle for survival against zombies, battles against other players will also play a major role.

The Day Before is the most requested multiplayer game on Steam. No other multiplayer title has made it onto players’ wish lists more often. Overall, the survival game is in second place, only the Harry Potter game Hogwarts Legacy, which only offers a single player, is expected to be hotter.

What is this trailer? Released in cooperation with graphics card manufacturer Nvidia, The Day Before’s new trailer shows what the gameplay looks like in 4k resolution with ray tracing turned on.

All in all, the trailer lasts almost a minute and, in addition to some pictures of the map, also shows battles against zombies.

Why do the players doubt the game? In the comments on YouTube, the opinions go in two almost opposite directions:

  • Some think the game and its graphics look great.
  • Others say the title used to look better in old trailers and suspect The Day Before got a graphical downgrade.

    • The faction that suspects a downgrade is particularly well represented in the comment section. A user writes that it was already clear to him from the first trailers that this could not be the final graphic and that the finished game would ultimately look worse.

    In general, many noticed that the graphics have greatly decreased compared to previous trailers.

    • It also sharply criticized the May 2022 announcement in which the developers said the release of The Day Before had been postponed because they wanted to release it directly in Unreal Engine 5 (UE5).

    However, the commenters on YouTube don’t think that the gameplay shown looks like the new engine. User peyotechild says, “When they said they were remaking it in UE5, I was expecting better graphics than the PS4.”
