The Darfur war seen through the trial of Ali Kushayb

Since April 2023, Sudan has experienced a new outbreak of violence, pitting General Hemedti’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against the regular army of General and Head of State Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. The FSR succeeded the Janjawid militias which, in the service of the regime of Omar al-Bashir, had sown terror in Darfur during the 2003-2004 war. Ali Mohamed Abd-el-Rahman [aussi connu sous le nom d’Ali Kushayb, NDLR]former leader of the paramilitary group is currently on trial by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague for crimes against humanity and war crimes.
