According to the statement made by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), it was stated that a person was caught abroad with the Clade 1 virus, the new variant of M pox. According to RKI, no deaths were recorded in the country.
It was stated that RKI does not currently expect a risk from the Class 1 virus in Germany, but is monitoring the situation very closely. Clade 2b virus has been seen in Germany since May 2022. Sweden was the first country to record a case of the Clad 1 variant outside Africa.
M-POX VIRUS
M pox virus is transmitted from rodents such as mice and squirrels or from infected individuals. Touching body rashes caused by the virus, using clothes, sheets, towels and similar items contaminated with these rashes, and contact with body fluids are among the most important causes of infection.
FIRST SYMPTOMS
The first symptoms can appear within 5 to 21 days after contracting the virus. The virus generally causes high fever, headache, back and muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, chills, chills and blisters on the skin similar to chickenpox.
THERE IS NO SPECIAL TREATMENT
The disease, which has no specific treatment method, is treated with antiviral drugs. The majority of cases have a mild illness and recover within a few weeks.
NAME HAS BEEN CHANGED
The World Health Organization (WHO) changed the name “monkeypox” to “mpox” in 2022 due to concerns about racism and discrimination. M pox virus was declared a “public health emergency of international concern” by WHO on August 14.
