The damage to the Puijo ski jump is a serious

Hill jumping and combined national team activities are largely concentrated in Kuopio.

Having worked as a ski jumping and combined event director Mika Kojonkoski according to Puijo’s K-90 ski jumping hill, the damage is a serious problem for Finnish ski jumping.

In Puijo’s jumping hill, a risk of collapse was detected during the fitness check. Vauhtimäki’s frame and structure have serious damage.

Kojonkoski knew how to expect possible renovation work, but the jumper’s poor condition came as a surprise.

– This is a shock for us, and the situation sounds very serious. Now you have to stop and read the reports and think about what can be done. We are facing a difficult problem.

The cornerstones of Finnish ski jumping and combined reconstruction have included the possibility of daily training in good conditions. They wanted to concentrate the activities in one place, which has been successful in Kuopio.

– The Mäki national team and the combined youth national team have been entirely in Kuopio. In addition, ski jumping coaching is largely concentrated in Kuopio and the sports academy has offered good expert support.

In Kuopio, there have been 40 ski jumpers training in the goal-oriented training of the Ski Association.

– Of course, we know that the hills are in a bit of a bad shape and have an old profile, but it is the best that can be found in Finland. Lahti has a great center, but suurmäki has not been used there in the summer.

Chairman of the Kuopio City Council Aleksi Eskelinen According to Hyppyrimäki, the possible renovation work has not been decided yet.

– First of all, you have to make sure that it is safe to move around in the area.
