The Customs Administration goes out and warns of a sharp increase in seized spice variants.
“The really nasty thing about this way of spraying synthetic drugs on seemingly common cannabis is that the user has no idea about the strength and what dangerous effects this pointed drug can cause,” says Jenny Åberg, expert expert in the Customs Laboratory.
The so-called spice epidemic emerged as a wave and caused several deaths in Sweden and other European countries about 10 years ago. Now the Customs Administration reports that a sharp increase in similar substances has emerged in their seizures. So far this year, the Customs Administration has made 54 seizures of the new substance. In 2024, 9 seizures were made.
“These new substances have almost exactly the same chemical composition,” says Jenny Åberg, expert expert in the Customs Laboratory. She continues:
-Until March 18 this year, we had seized a total of 24.6 kilos of different hemp products that were laid with ADB-4en-Pinaca. It is an alarming trend that we want to go out and warn about. Everything indicates that this synthetic canned home, which was classified in June last year, is as dangerous as other spice variants.
Hard to detect
Spice is a collective name for several synthetically produced cannabinoids produced in powder form. According to the Customs Administration, the new spice variants are sprayed on seemingly legal industrial hemp which makes it difficult to detect the pointed drug, which can have devastating consequences.
