Scan has been a champion in meat and charcuterie in Sweden for over 100 years. Since 2007, the company has been part of a Finnish HKScan group.
Today, Scan makes both meat-based products and vegetarian products. The range has grown and all their products are based on Swedish raw materials, according to Scan’s website. Today, approximately 2,000 people work at Scan around the country.

News24 has taken note of the notification to the Food Agency where a couple states that they found metal in Scans Hot Dogs Original at the beginning of June.
The couple would cook sausages for their one-year-old daughter. When they cut open the sausage, they discovered a large piece of metal in there.
In the notification to the Swedish Food Agency, the couple writes that they are very happy that they paid for the sausage before giving it to their daughter and had time to see the piece of metal. Had the couple not done so, the daughter could have ingested the piece of metal.
“It could have gone really badly,” the couple wrote in their report.

The couple also writes that they make a report in case there are more pieces of metal or chips in other packages of Hot Dogs Original.
It is not the first time that Scan has metal in its sausages. As recently as May, Scan recalled its 300 gram and 900 gram Chorizo due to possible metal or plastic in the sausage, they wrote in a press release at the event.

When Nyheter24 comes into contact with HK Scan, they say that food safety is something they take very seriously and take very seriously.
– Food safety is our absolute most important priority and we have well-developed routines and processes with controls in several stages to ensure high food safety. We take all complaints very seriously. Foreign objects must not be present. That’s why we also have metal detectors that catch any errors. We have asked the consumer for the item in order to conduct a further investigation of what happened.
