The culture industry on its way back after the pandemic

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Many cultural activities in the country were hit hard during the pandemic, but now the crisis seems to be largely over for the sector, according to the authority’s analysis.

The number of unemployed with education or experience in culture is once again at the same level as before the pandemic, and demand in related professions is stronger than before.

However, the recovery mainly applies to the artistic and cultural activities. As for the library, archive and museum sector, development seems to have been significantly slower – and there the number of employees is also not back to the same levels as before the pandemic, the report authors write.

There are also differences in recovery between different age groups, according to Joakim Boström Elias, analyst at the Swedish Agency for Cultural Analysis.

“The pace of the recovery has not only varied between different sub-sectors in the cultural sector. We can also see that there are differences between different age groups and between the highly and low-educated, where the young and the low-educated experienced a longer course of crisis,” he writes in a press release.

The analysis is based on data from Statistics Sweden and the Swedish Employment Agency.
