The end of the world took time. In 2015, the masterful sci-fi action Mad Max: Fury Road hit theaters and nine years later, director George Miller gives us the prequel Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. The film will be released in cinemas in 3 days. Miller originally wanted to shoot it in 2010.

Furiosa tells the story of the eponymous heroine (Anya Taylor-Joy), who is kidnapped at a young age by biker leader Dementus (Chris Hemsworth). She swears bloody revenge. She finally gets her chance in the service of his competitor Immortan Joe (Lachy Hulme).

Miller’s plans for Furiosa are many years old. As early as 2010, he wanted to shoot the film together with Fury Road as a double act, as Twitch Film reports. According to a New York Times article, he worked on Fury Road since the early 2000s, developing a detailed backstory for the Furiosa character.
Producing both films at the same time became too complicated for him. It was not until 2022, which was temporarily made difficult by the corona pandemic, that the director was able to complete filming. It took another year and a half for the film to hit the cinemas.
When is Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga coming to cinemas?
Now the time has finally come: Furiosa is coming May 23, 2024 to the cinema. In addition to the stars mentioned above, Tom Burke (The Souvenir) and Charlee Fraser (Where the Lie Falls) can be seen in front of the camera.
