A family comedy to raise awareness about climate change. Louis Garrel has fun with The crusade, in the role of a father overwhelmed by the ecological commitment of their 13-year-old teenager. In this new film, the actor and director takes the stage with his companion in the city Laetitia Casta.
It’s pleasant, comforting even to think that children around the world are mobilizing like Greta Thunberg to save the planet. Comforting until you discover that your own son has secretly sold your precious books, your favorite cashmere and even grandmother’s jewelry to finance a crazy project: to make the Sahel green again by building a gigantic artificial lake.
In his new film, Louis garrel takes the stage with his companion in the city Laetitia Casta. Couple of four Parisians, Abel and Marianne realize one day that their own son, Joseph, aged 13, has become a full member of a global coalition of young people determined to take radical measures to save the planet.
A couple that divides
Immediately, the couple is torn: Abel is furious, his more empathetic wife supports Joseph. The idea of a band of French people leaving, heart in hand, to save Africa with the agreement of local governments is a little doubtful, it is one of the weaknesses of the scenario.
There remains a couple of actors who obviously have a blast in front of the camera and a burning question: how far would you be ready to cut corners on your private pleasures to save the planet?
